joys-and-new-adventures  That is sheer joy.  A dog’s joy at the beach is equal to that of a child’s.  And like any parent who finds great happiness in watching their kids frolic and play at the shore, a day at the beach with our dogs is a very good day indeed.  We have two wonderful pups, Brewster (shown) and Bella.  Six year old siblings, best friends, and all-around best-dogs-ever.  They adore the beach and relish their time there.   They wouldn’t dream of running off, bothering other beach goers, or causing any nuisance.  They seem to know that would be the end of their off-leash beach freedoms.  Instead they chase each other back and forth between Mom and Dad, who keep just enough distance between us to make it a good, spirited run.  They jump through the surf, splash in tidal pools, and even help sniff out pretty shells for Mom to add to her collection.  These great dogs, and this place we love so much, are the inspiration behind Beach Beggin’.

We have never been able to quite get ‘enough’ of the beach.  Our saving grace has been living in a big southern city that is a mere four hour drive from the lowcountry coast.  Over the years we have made that trip more and more often… all the while becoming less and less interested in our hectic, hustling-bustling city.  We have found ourselves completely and terminally in love with the lowcountry, and can find no cure.  The longing for toes in sand, dogs in surf, coastal breezes, palm trees, and a sling-shot’s distance to beautiful historic towns has now grown to a critical level.

And thus we begin a leap of faith and a new adventure.  Armed with a house plan, a builder, and a stack of packing boxes, we prepare to move the dogs, our lives, and our little business to the coast we love.   In doing so, we will also have the formidable task of bidding farewell to the city we have called home for most of our lives.  The city where Beach Beggin’ was created and embraced by our customers and their Beach Biscuit loving dogs.  The city where so many of our family and friends live.  The city that has kept us employed, kept us in traffic, and kept us on our toes.  As much as we want to go, it won’t be easy.  I can only hope our unwavering desire to be coastal will get us through the stress of home-building and the tearful goodbyes when the project is complete and it’s time to go.

The good news is, there’s simply no better place on earth to catch up with family and friends than at the beach!  We will be looking forward to houseguests, oyster roasts, lots of laughter…and lots of new friends too.
